After years of working in the fine art and antiques trade in East Anglia I moved to Cornwall in 2008.
I still study with other artists in West Penwith, always aiming to expand my knowledge and vary my techniques. Some of my work hovers on the brink of abstraction with random splashes and unexplainable colour but hopefully, the marks add to the particular moment.
My pieces usually begin as sketches and notes on the subject before translating the idea onto canvas in my studio at Tregonebris where i can let rip. I find this method allows my imagination to flow giving a more impressionistic result for the final piece.
I use brushes sparingly, preferring palette knives to achieve a looser, more atmospheric impression. Although my work is largely figurative, my intention is to bring a little bit of Cornwall onto the walls of a domestic interior. I hope the viewer enjoys the results as much as I enjoy the creating the work.
