Last January and February West  Penwith was buzzing with activity. as Apart Films began the screening of Summer in February a film adapted from the book of the same title which follows the life and loves of the artist circle living in Lamorna at the beginning of the 20th century. The story revolves around Alfred Munnings and his future wife Flora with Harold and Laura Knight playing a prominent part. The Wink (Lamorna's eccentric pub) seethed with stars and suddenly I was inspired to paint scenes from the book beginning in Sancreed at the top of the Lamorna valley and ending at Lamorna Cove. The film is due to be released at the beginning of next year and the Penlee Museum and Art Gallery are hosting an exhibition of the Lamorna artists to celebrate the film's release.  I too hope to hold an exhibition of paintings and a few of these will pop up in this Gallery. 

 I am very excited by the project and hope to produce about twenty paintings inspired  by the wonderful book Summer in February by Jonathan Smith.
