Both spring and autumn produce high seas in Cornwall. Typically Penny refers to these times as 'Storm Season'. Invariably this season peaks in October and March. Even on sunny days the sea is an inky blue/black., These are petulant seas and to stand at the edge of the watermark could be risky as an angry wave can sweep in and whip the viewer off their feet. Penny uses many textured layers to exaggerate the heaviness of the sea.
