​Bull leaping was a well-known sport of the Minoan civilisation some 5,000 years ago. Penny has taken a well-known image of a bull leaping fresco but only represented the bull in all his majesty. Penny revelled in the use of all the rich red and ochre colours. using a soft sponged background to highlight the leaping bull.
