January and February 2026
Life in the Studio
Life in the Studio
Using a different palette I began to create some softer images with more drama in the skies. Really enjoyed the introduction of two new yellow colours: Transparent Oxide and Cobalt Yellow.
Stopping Off For Supper

And in this landscape I used the same yellows with the addition of an Indian Red to create dark features. I was using some of Turners ideas to free myself up, thinking: if he can do it in 1826 why can't I try and loosen up ion 2026?
Cornish Light

This became the formula for the winter and my seasacapes were softer and yet had more light and dark in them. Well - it was a pretty dark winter after all.
March and April 2026
The two months signifying the end of winter were predictably English coming in like a lion and then out like a lamb. Painting more thoughtfully meant that I could only produce two or three new pieces of work in 8 weeks. It became much more difficult to find satisfaction in a piece but visitors appreciated the change in style.
